I was born on the 29th of April 1950 in Dendermonde, a small town in the province of East Flanders. After having lived in Antwerp for 35 years, from 1978 to 2013, I moved back to Dendermonde... I have been drawing since I was very young. I only started painting at the insistence of my wife. She thought that after all those black and white pencil and pencil drawings, I should finally do something with colors. That's why I went to the Municipal Academy of Plastic Arts in Berchem (Antwerp) in 1990 to learn the painting techniques (especially oil paint). After three years I gave it my all and nowadays I only let myself be guided by my own inspiration and personal approach. I have always had a great admiration for the Flemish painters who were active at the end of the 19th, beginning of the 20th century such as Franz Courtens, Ferdinand Willaert, Frédéric Léon, Alfred Verwee, Evariste Carpentier and especially the luminist Emile Claus. My first exhibition took place in 1994 in the artists' village Vlassenbroek (near Dendermonde.) This was followed by exhibitions in Lier, Zandvliet, Lebbeke, Affligem, Antwerp, Boom, Dendermonde (including participation in the art biennale of 2005).
